Pantheism, which is the monotheistic belief that the universe and everything in it is a manifestation of God, can be traced back as far as c. 300 BCE since some Stoics from Ancient Greece were Pantheists, or c. 400 BCE if some early forms of Daoism are to be regarded as forms of Pantheism.

The word "Pantheism" was first mentioned in Latin by an English mathematician named Joseph Raphson in 1697 CE in his publication "De spatio reali."
