Glossary - Cosmogeny Cosmogeny (a.k.a., "cosmogony") is any theory that describes the origins of solar systems, galaxies, galaxy clusters, cosmic filaments, or the universe, particularly in the context of how the cosmos "came to exist." One of the most popular examples of cosmogeny is the Big Bang theory, which suggests that the universe expanded quickly from one gravitational singularity.
