Glossary - Soothsayer

A "soothsayer" is a person who can accurately forsee the future.  Many religions and fantasy stories feature characters who forsaw future events, and in some cases may have also used their insight into the future to give advice to others, either to help them or to hurt them.

In the stock market industry there is a longstanding problem with fraudsters claiming to be "soothsayers" predicting future trading values of stock investments, but the usual course of these scams tends to be that very few, if any, of the predictions actually come to fruition.
